M.I.A

Last week I went to see M.I.A. I love gigs that play good music before the acts come on; the DJ was great. M.I.A was incredible live. I just wish it was longer…............

Loneliness has followed me my whole life

Nouvelle Vague

Crowd-surfing the crowd

Last week I went to see nouvelle vague. The band is absolutely amazing live. I've always loved the variety of different singers in the band. I thought the gig would be quite tame considering it was at Royal Albert Hall, but to the contrary the band interacted great with the audience. The main girl in the band was an incredible dancer; her dancing reminded me of Brigitte Bardot in the film 'God created women'. She also crowd surfed, ran through the hall and up to the balcony seats many times. It was nuts considering how hard it is to do in the Royal Albert Hall. I would definitely see them again.

Alex Skolnick Trio

Rodrigo Y Gabriela

I went to see Rodrigo and Gabriela last night. This duo are truly talented and amazing. The opening act were great too; a band called Alex Skolnick Trio. The band was a fusion of different genres, but mainly hard rock and Jazz. I hope they do a seperate tour soon. I really need to get a new camera, the pictures I took are so bad. Im actually considering going to see them again this weekend!

Enter the void

I went to see the new Gaspar Noe film 'Enter the void'. The film was shocking, psychedelic, explicit and mind blowing. I have never seen a film like this before. It didnt help that I had a few drinks before going to the cinema. The film was based in Toyko's bright coloured nightlife and is full of psychedelic fusions of colours and blacklight shots. When the film was over I was confused and alarmed with a bad headache. I liked how it showed a non religious take on what could happen after death and I loved
the unpredictable camera shots. Im still not sure if i'd watch this film again; but I would recommend it to anyone who likes creative and unique cinema.

(The opening credits were amazing alone!)

Gaoler's Daughter

Me and my friends went to see this band twice in the summer. I dont usually find new bands I like; but this band were really good. Some of their songs reminded me of vampire weekend but much better; but the songs I really liked were the ones that sounded like surf-rock, which reminded me of some of the pixies songs from the bossanova album. I would recommend anyone that likes good music to go to one of their gigs.

Soma

This has always been my favourite smashing pumpkins song....the song is just beautiful.

Nothing left to say
And all I've left to do
Is run away
From you
And she led me on, down
With secrets I can't keep

Close your eyes and sleep
Don't wait up for me
Hush now don't you speak
To me

Wrapped my hurt in you
And took my shelter in that pain
The opiate of blame
Is your broken heart, your heart

So now I'm all by myself
As I've always felt
I'll betray my tears
To anyone caught in our ruse of fools

One last kiss from me...yeah
One last kiss good night

Didn't want to lose you once again
Didn't want to be your friend
Fulfilled a promise made of tin
And crawled back to you

I'm all by myself
As I've always felt
I'll betray myself
To anyone, lost, anyone but you

So let the sadness come again
On that you can depend on me, yeah
Until the bitter, bitter end of the world, yeah
When god sleeps in bliss

And I'm all by myself
As I've always felt
And I'll betray myself
To anyone

I hope they tour London soon............
